Carb-less Bread


This can’t be true, right?! Carb free bread is something of a mythical creature in the world of food and eating. It’s practically impossible to make or find and even if you do come across a recipe or product low in carbs – it doesn’t hold up in the taste department. If you’re on a low carb, carb free or even a diabetic diet – this is the recipe for you. It will show you step by step how to make a carb-less bread substitute. If you aren’t on a special diet, this recipe should be tried out anyway because taking out some of the bread from your eating habits can actually be quite beneficial. Not to mention, the dish is delicious.

You’ll need: 3 eggs; 1/2 cup of cream cheese; a bit of salt; 1/2 tablespoon of psyllium husks; and 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder. First, separate your eggs by the whites and the yolks in two different bowls. Begin whipping the whites with  some salt until they have a stiffer consistency – this should be to the point where the whites will not fall out when moving the bowl around or over.

Mix up the egg yolks and cream cheese so they are combined together very well and then add in the psyllium husk and baking powder as well. The ladder two ingredients are actually optional in this recipe, but does help the bread to have more of a familiar feeling. Fold in the whites into the yolk mixture, making sure to maintain the air that is in the whites.

Place about 6-8 rounds onto a prepared baking tray. Place them in the center of your oven and bake at 300 degrees F for about a half hour, or when they begin having a golden brown color to them. Once they are done, they can be served as is or used as a substitute for any dish that calls for bread.
